Keith & Jennifer Richard "We recently built a new home in Garden Oaks. We purchased the lot ourselves, with only an idea of the type and style of house we'd like. The lot we purchased, although large, was oddly shaped, filled with mature trees, and constricted by significant setbacks due to rigid deed restrictions. We approached several architects with a four page "wish list" of what we wanted out of the house both functionally and aesthetically. Of all the designs we got back, Jeremy McFarland's design by far best captured our vision. We were amazed that the original rough drawing of the house, both elevations and floor plans, were nearly identical to our final plan. This was due not to a lack of involvement on our part, but on Jeremy really listening to us and creating a truly unique and custom home geared to our needs and desires. Having looked at a lot of new homes prior to the process, we knew we wanted something unique that was not simply a big box or a carbon copy of a previous design. Jeremy's design started from scratch, incorporated our "must haves", and had more flair than any homes we'd seen. We loved the variation in rooflines and decorative touches. At the same time, he was able to design the footprint of the house in such a way that we saved the numerous large trees and complied with the setbacks required by the deed restrictions. Throughout the construction process, Jeremy remained heavily involved, working with the builder to insure that the design was carried out faithfully and practically. One of the most consistent comments we receive from guests about our home is how open and welcoming it feels - which is due in large part to Jeremy's design.
